Octagon Hall Museum
Feb. 14th, 2005 -By Thea
We arrived at Octagon Hall at around 8:00 p.m that evening. Pulling into the driveway of the beautiful old place your struck by just how unusual, but strangely fitting the place looks. Right away we noticed several places that we would like to visit on the property. We unloaded our equipment and made our way to the entrance where we were greeted warmly by Bill Byrd, owner/curator of Octagon Hall. Bill showed us where we could place our equipment and set up a small base. There were only three of us on hand that evening, due to the flu that was wiping everyone out, so we knew we were going to have our hands full that evening.
We started our investigation by visiting the slave cemetary outside. The cemetary is guarded by a old tree that was struck by lightining a few years ago and now bears what looks to be an angel. We took several pictures and was fortunate enough to capture a mist hovering near the tree and gravestones.
We decided to start our investigation of the house in the basement. Bill was gracious enough to give us free run of the hall, but was curious enough to stick with us the first bit while we were in the basement. Bill provided us with the history of the home which is long and often times tragic. The most striking bit of information that he gave us was that on Feb 13 1865 eight THOUSAND soldiers were on that property at one time, filling the house and grounds to overflowing. We only missed the anniversary date by a day! I would love to have been there on that date this year, as Bill says it always livens up a bit on that day each year.
During our investigation of the basement Bill told us about the little girl that is often times seen there in front of a door to a large storage closet. There were a total of 4 rooms in the basement, however the "tool room" made me most uncomfortable. When I shared that news with Bill he was suprised as he said that no one has ever seen anything in that room. We snapped several pictures and upon closer inspection later in the evening discovered that we had not been alone in the tool room. Bill said that this was the first time anything had been captured from that room.
After we finished our investigation of the basement we headed back up to the main floor of the home where we were then joined by a news crew of one of the local TV channels. WBKO of Bowling Green, an ABC affiliate had gotten wind of us being there and wanted to join us in our investigation! After a brief interview with Bill and a brief interview with me, we headed upstairs.
As such goes, aside from a small couple of orbs following the camera man around we were not able to get any good results. We showed the news crew the pictures that we had gathered up until that point and they seemed impressed and we have scheduled a follow up interview. As soon as that is aired I will let you all know.
After the news crew left Bill stated to one of the other investigators that he needed to run down the road to his home for a few moments to get some cold meds. We were going to be in the house alone! We were thrilled! We headed back upstairs to see if we could find anything, as that is where Bill stated that he always felt the most uncomfortable, as well as there being an abundance of flies in the nursery window that we wanted to check out. Bill states that he cleans that window out at least twice a week. This would not normally be an issue, however this is the ONLY window in the house that gets them.
We started back out in the nursery and found nothing unusual then headed to the young childrens bed room, and it was there that things got a bit more exciting. While in the room, the closet door rattled twice by itself as we were in the middle of the room taking pictures and emf readings. When we approached the door the emf meter got some very high readings. We felt that we should move on and went over to the next bedroom. From there we kept hearing things on the staircase. Our batteries in the emf meter were getting low so we decided to head back down to the main floor. Mandy went first, then myself with Dwayne bringing up the rear. He was about half way down when we all heard something behind him. I asked him to stop while I took a picture. I got a WONDERFUL picture of him looking behind him for the sound while a large orb is hovering almost above his head.
A few moments later Mandy went to the staircase and asked whatever was there if she could take a picture. When she took the pic she captured a large bright orb in the middle of the stairway.
We packed up our equipment about 1:00am, and would have loved to have stayed longer, but two of us were recovering from the flu and wore out. Bill went around turning off the lights as we packed up. He started in the basement where all the lights were on motion sensors, in each room and the stairs. When we were leaving we happened to turn back and see the light in the basement pop on. Someone bidding us goodnight? I would like to think so. The entire time we were at the hall we never once got a malevolent feeling, but rather almost as if whatever was there was welcoming us. We very much look forwards to visiting with them again!

The EVP's are here!
Just right click and "save target as" if you want to keep them, or just click them to listen! The name of the file is what you'll be listening for. They're all pretty clear. The last one is the best one in our opinions!
Die
Jealous
Long sigh after a question is asked.
Out
See us
Leave that alone
Don't bring it down for that bitch!
